Coinbase will post two test transactions to your account for values ranging from $0.01 – $0.10.  All you have to do is log into your bank website and check what these values were & then confirm them on Coinbase.  Easy peasy.

From then, people began to attach some value to Bitcoin. On 12 October 2009, the #bitcoin-dev channel was registered on freenode IRC, a network for discussing free and open source development communities. On 16 December 2009, the Bitcoin version 0.2 was officially released and on 6 February 2010, a currency exchange was born. In future articles I will discuss in more detail some of the strategies I’m using to set my limit orders. But hopefully this article serves as a comprehensive guide to getting started trading cryptocurrencies on an exchange.

Volumes indicate the liquidity of an asset. The greater the liquidity the easier it is to buy and sell, even when there is turmoil, and the lower the Bid-Offer spread and therefore the cost of trading. You want to avoid assets with tiny liquidity as when the shit hits the fan it will be costly to exit. Bitcoin has world-class liquidity. I run a crypoasset analysis site named Blocklink.info. Each blockchain transaction can be coded with more conditions and information put into the transaction. Essentially, this gives the users an opportunity to generate what many call a Smart Contract. For example, let’s say you are starting a new business and are looking for a certain amount of investors with a promise of making money back within a period of time. With the help of a Smart Contract, you can code these conditions into the transaction and ensure that it will only proceed if you have enough investors. The beautiful part about these Smart Contracts is that they are transparent on the blockchain, meaning you can’t simply modify the transaction once the investors have paid their share and end up scheming them over. Once the transaction has been made, all of its conditions are set in stone.

I am not trying to spread FUD, I am involved in business that utilizes Bitcoin. I am a supporter of what this next-generation technology can and will do. What I am not a supporter of and seek to reason in people is their inability to see the forest through the trees.
