It’s important to specify a time horizon for your investment—such as short term (7–14 days), medium term (1–2 months) or long-term (6–12 months). I don’t recommend trading on time horizons shorter than 7 days unless you have access to (you probably don’t) or have large amounts of money to play with; otherwise, the fees will be too high relative to the returns.

Bittrex is currently closed to new user while they upgrade their systems. In the interim, you can buy coins from Changelly with Credit/Debit or Bitcoin. I’ll let everyone know when Bittrex is back up for new registration. Happy trading!
It should also be noted that the timestamps on the subsequent blocks indicate that Nakamoto did not mine the first blocks in an attempt to keep them for himself and make profit this way. Yes, Nakamoto was awarded Bitcoins as he was the first and a sole miner for some time, but this continued only for about 10 days after the launch of the Bitcoin network. The only thing that Nakamoto used his Bitcoins for was a few test transactions. Starting from around mid-January of 2009, those Bitcoins were left unspent. Anyone can check the public log of Nakamoto’s Bitcoin address, which shows roughly 1 million Bitcoins. This amount of Bitcoins is roughly equal to about $2.8 billion USD. Needless to say, Nakamoto’s invention was a success.
Once you’ve verified your identity and connected a payment method, you’re ready to buy cryptocurrency. Click over to the Buy/Sell page any amount of the coin of your choice. Note, for trading purposes I recommend BTC or ETH — as I’m not aware of any LTC markets.
Don’t do it. Crypto-trading is nearly 100% manipulated and only those in the know make real money long term. Insider trading, scams, schemes and corruption are all that await a new trader in this scene. My guess is that Altcoinplayer has been trading only a short while and doesn’t know what’s really going on.
Those are the first two exchanges that I used. Now I use others since each exchange has pros and cons. I wrote about the best cryptocurrency exchanges if you’re interested in getting an overview of the possibilities.
And from this, I wrote my original strategy. I still don’t know if I am smart or lucky, anyone could have made money this year in such a bull market. I guess the smart ones made a better %. I am pretty self-aware that different decisions would have led to an entirely different outcome. If I hadn’t have bought Ripple, I would probably be a couple of months behind where I am now. If I had doubled my Ripple investment, I could be a couple of months ahead.
This cryptocurrency is one of the first ones to hit the market after the launch of Bitcoin. Technically, it is nearly identical to Bitcoin, but with one major difference. Instead of using SHA-256d as its hash algorithm, Litecoin uses Scrypt, created by Colin Percival and designed to make it extremely expensive to initiate large scale hardware attacks because of the amount of memory that is needed to decrypt a single key. Litecoin was released in 2011 and was founded by Charles Lee.
After going over the three ways to trade Bitcoin, we will extend our exploration into the pros and cons of each way, and then provide a bottom line for each category and an overall summary further below.
You can place a limit order to buy or sell cryptocurrencies for any USD amount (above $0.10 USD for BTC, and above $0.01 USD for ETH), or in any fractional amount of a cryptocurrency (above 0.00001 BTC, or 0.001 ETH).
Cryptocurrencies are encrypted digital currencies which are transferred between peers. They are decentralized, meaning not governed by any bank or government institution. They are a sequence of encrypted codes transmitted and stored over a network. All transactions are confirmed and stored on a public ledger. The system uses other complex techniques to certify and validate the record keeping process. Lack of regulation for cryptocurrencies mean that they are highly volatile by nature, and an investment with this can make a lot of money fast, and at the same time it can turn and one can lose money fast. The reason it is not yet accepted by a lot of businesses is partly due to the lack of regulation. There is a set amount of digital coins that can be created and which was outlined from the beginning, after that number is reached no further coins can be produced. The reality is such, that Bitcoin and digital currencies prices rise and drop for various reasons such as media and bad press, news events, and government statements, more people are using it and for this reason the price is rising. Their unpredictability makes it exciting for most traders. Moving forward there are discussions on how to manage the currencies and that in itself can swing the price.
No Trolling. Do not make random unsolicited and/or controversial comments with the intent of baiting or provoking unsuspecting readers to engage in hostile arguments. As others have said you risk losing money, but in addition unless you are really good at it you won’t make more than someone who just holds. And you end up creating more taxable events and never get to long term capital gains territory.
TIP: If you don’t understand the tax implications of trading cryptocurrency tread very carefully. There are some nasty traps you could fall into when trading coins. For one, they are not necessarily considered “like-kind assets.” If that is confusing, then consider sticking with trading USD for coins in Coinbase until you grasp the concept. Yeah lol, that certainly is not going to do much at all. When I was really into Dogecoin in the beginning, people were posting amazing ideas to help promote the acceptance of Dogecoin, but those ideas easily get shot down because of the stupid shit people upvote on /r/Dogecoin. Everything gets swept under the rug by stupid memes and gifs. I still have some Dogecoin, but when the price goes back up to a price that’s worth trading, I will be getting rid of all my Dogecoin.
Once the limit order is set, be patient. Give the price time to fluctuate—testing highs and lows—and see if your limit order catches a buyer (or seller). There is no hurry to cancel you limit orders, so resist the urge to rapidly change your limit order prices. Many experienced investors will set multiple limit orders at consecutively lower prices to take advantage of a big selloff or take some profits when the price tests a new high. Limit orders are your best friend, use them.
