For a lazy investor, building a Cryptocurrency portfolio is perfect – spread your investment across 5 – 20 coins, protect your investment properly (more on that in a moment), and then just sit back and wait a couple of years.
The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) Indicator is a top of the line trading indicator used in the technical analysis of various financial instruments including cryptocurrencies. The MACD indicator utilizes both trend following and momentum indicators by showing the relationship between two different price averages. It does this by calculating the longer moving average and subtracting it by the calculated shorter moving average. These moving averages oscillate above and below the zero line resulting in the converging, crossing, and diverging of moving averages.

Most exchanges offer cryptocurrency trading with the need of Bitcoin (for example Ether for Bitcoin, or Bitcoin for Litecoin), this is why Bitcoin is the first thing you should consider buying. Most exchanges also accept different payment methods like online bank transfers, PayPal or Creditcard.

Agreed. There are lots of “teachers” who have an agenda to milk students. I’m just a trader, I don’t want your money. And I don’t want to b a teacher. But I make money everyday in the markets, and why should I keep that to myself. I’m happy to share, and in my opinion, there has never been a bigger opportunity for a trader than Cryptoland!! (as I call it)
Hey Luc! Outstanding post. Just wanted to give you an FYI that this one is doing super well on some SEO keywords, so you may want to add an edit to your post linking the new start, and maybe doing some other on-boarding type stuff.
Robinhood, an app that allows users to track and trade stocks for free, has finally made its move into the crypto market. The app is rolling out a new service that allows users to trade 16 different cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin and Ethereum, with no extra fees.
How to buy cryptocurrency has to be one of the largest topics of online conversation in 2017 — I know I get asked about it all the time. The fact of the matter is that with ever changing global policies, world leaders and shaky governments, decentralized currencies are needed now more than ever – s0 here is my cryptocurrency trading guide.
Fortunately, many exchanges have developed the ability to place limit orders and stop orders. This means that you can decide what you want to do, buy or sell, when a currency hits a certain price ahead of time and have your order ready to go. Limit orders give you a lot of flexibility to plan ahead and get some sleep, even if you expect movement in markets overnight. For example, you may purchase a currency at $20 toward the end of your trading day and then place a limit order to sell when it hits $21 if you expect it to rise overnight. Of course, if you’re worried about losing your investment, you could also place a limit order to sell at $19 if it dips. If either of those things happens, the trade will take place automatically, even while you are sleeping.
Digital currency trading marks the first paid product, other than trading on margin, for Robinhood, which made a name for itself by letting anyone buy and sell small amounts of stock without fees. The company said it’ll only charge for cryptocurrency transactions to recoup the costs associated with trading the assets and won’t take a commission. Robinhood plans to roll out the option gradually hopes to have it available to customers in most U.S. states by midyear.
As long as innovative blockchain-based projects are being created and as long as fundraising is required to expand them, the momentum will remain on the side of ICOs. Many projects in the crypto space certainly have an immense potential to become funded within a matter of hours, so you just need to look out for the best options.
Stop loss is a must for every cryptocurrency day trader. And one should not even trade without it. With the volatility of the cryptocurrency market, it would be basically a suicide mission. That being said, stop loss have to be set up properly so it would not trigger all the time. Think about the lowest price for which you are willing to hold a cryptocurrency, hoping it will bounce back up again. Take profit allows you to lock in the profit at a good price before it goes again down.
Thanks for this, so my story: I’m new and have been using Coinbase then suddenly was told I need to verify ID to continue buying. I’ve tried several times but have been unsuccessful, most likely because I recently moved from California to New Mexico. And as everyone knows their customer service is virtually non existent. So I’ve been trying to sign up with several other exchanges but keep getting told they don’t do business in New Mexico. I guess I’ll just keep trying exchanges until I don’t get rejected…unless you know of ones that do business in New Mexico.
I don’t care much about Altcoin bull runs where the price dramatically increases 15-20% in a few hours. Those aren’t the patterns I am looking for when I trade. In fact, if i see a chart like this I almost always ignore it:
Unfortunately, not even a single cryptocoin from this community gathered enough momentum to push them into the world’s consciousness until 2008 — the year when Satoshi Nakamoto’s paper, “Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System”, was published.
If you are doing any active trading, set stop losses. For any coins not in your medium or long-term holds, always set stop losses. This is important for several reasons — the most obvious is mitigating your losses. But more importantly, you force yourself to decide on a point of acceptable loss, and because you now have a reference point, you are able to measure your effectiveness to keep or adjust for future trades. Sometimes, during a market dip, altcoins can plummet, and stop losses can lead to profitability by automatically selling for fiat that you can use to re-enter at lower prices.
If you like risk you can buy 1 Bitcoin (currently $11,670) with 0.1 BTC ($1,167) by buying a 10x margin position at Bitmex. Bitcoin stayed in the news over the years. The price went up and down, silk road happened, the legality of it was called into question, exchanges were hacked, and people gained and lost millions of dollars. Through it all, Bitcoin’s price kept rebounding, kept going up.
These smart contracts are used in a huge range of applications from insurance to real estate. Have a strategy – If you plan on day trading, you need to have a strategy. This goes with every form of investing, but it is absolutely necessary in day trading. Don’t just sit at the computer and look for random coins to try to invest in. You need to have a strategy and that strategy has to fit your style, your budget, and your risk profile. Do you plan on doing technical analysis or fundamental analysis? Do you plan on following social media and the news for tips? Do you have a list of coins you are going to watch daily so you can become very familiar with their price action and only trade those coins?
This mega-powerful currency has not only opened the gate for other currencies, but also leads the cryptocurrency world with pride. It is governed to make sure no extra Bitcoin is produced, as a maximum quantity of 21 Million Bitcoin units was agreed. When introduced, the price of $1 was 1,309 BTC. The wheel has turned, and when Bitcoin breached the $2,000 barrier in 2017, meaning 1 BTC was worth $2,000, it was certainly a meaningful milestone to Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin.

Setting goals and placing sell orders: always set your goals by putting sell orders. You don’t know when a whale will pump your coin up to catch your command (and pay a reduced fee on the “maker” side, remember?).
A few words to the wise. You must make sure that you are sending BTC to BTC wallets, ETH to ETH wallets, and so on and so forth. You will lose your assets attempting to send, for instance, Bitcoin to a NEO wallet.
The reason why the smart money divergence concept works is because the cryptocurrency market as a whole should move in the same direction when we’re in a trend. The same principles have been true for all the other major asset classes for decades and it’s true for the cryptocurrency trading strategy as well.
